About us

Crewe Brass are an enthusiastic and and highly motivated local Brass Band, starting out life as a coming together of South Cheshire Young Brass and the then United Co-op Youth Band, they merged and were lucky enough to ensure sponsorship from Co-operative Group under the name Normid 2000 Brass in 1990. They rose from 4th Section to the band you see today. Currently competing in the North West area as a 3rd Section Band, the band are well known throughout South Cheshire and beyond, performing regularly in concerts and events around Crewe & Nantwich. Crewe Brass regularly perform in the Lyceum Theatre, Ironbridge Festival of Brass, Wychavon Festival of Brass and of course our annual Christmas Concert in St Mary’s Church in Nantwich.

The band has also been proud to represent the area in Germany, where they visited their friends from Crewe’s twin town Bischofsheim. Having visited them in 2010 and again in 2014, the band were extremely excited to host their second visit in 2016 where they performed to a full house, here, in St Mary’s Church. The band are planning to broaden their European horizons with a tour in the planning stage for 2022.

The band welcomed their Musical Director, Matt Pithers, to the band only a few weeks before the 2018 regional championships in Blackpool and despite the new appointment and the band having just been promoted to the first section, they were extremely proud of their performance and had a wonderful day. The sun even shone ! The band begin the post COVID era in the 3rd Section and with new players to come in, a new magnificent band room and with a new sense of aspiration the band will strive to get back to where it was before the pandemic.

Crewe Brass are extremely proud of their new line-up and the 2020’s promise to be an exciting time as we move into our new home, The Heritage Centre, and hope to put on many concerts in our Exhibition Hall and perform at events such as the Wheels of War and Open Weekends,  so why not follow Crewe Brass on their Facebook page, visit www.crewebrass.com for news, updates and pictures or contact us at crewebrass@yahoo.co.uk
